My Review:

To me, the plot of this book took a back seat to the characters, but that’s why I liked it. I am a very character-driven reader and Legends & Lattes gave me a whole book in which to watch a group of diverse characters develop, become friends, build a supportive community, and cheer each other on. I was smiling so hard during the last couple of chapters, it was just ridiculous. I loved seeing each character break out of the role that was expected of him or her. But change is hard and if someone’s self-confidence faltered, the other characters stepped in with enough vocal belief and tangible support to get that person through. This was just the dose of happiness that I needed in my life right now.

“Things don’t have to stay as what they started out as.”

“I was just thinking that you don’t have to forget who you were … because that’s what brought you here.”

The incredible descriptions of food made me so hungry, I was probably drooling over my Kindle! I am not a coffee drinker so those descriptions didn’t do much for me but I’m sure others loved those too.

I highly recommend this if you need a dose of happy comfort in your reading life.

Synopsis from GoodReads:

Come take a load off at Viv’s cafe, the first & only coffee shop in Thune. Grand opening!

Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen.

However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

A hot cup of fantasy, slice-of-life with a dollop of romantic froth.
