It’s time to sign up for the 2016 Books in Translation Reading Challenge! The goal is obviously to read translations of books, from any language into the language(s) you’re comfortable reading; they don’t have to be in English.

You can read any genre and any age range. Crossovers with other challenges are fine. Any format that you choose is also acceptable. The challenge will run from January 1 through December 31, 2016.

Looking for suggestions? I have a shelf on GoodReads you can check out. There’s also a Listopia list on GoodReads. Linked reviews for the 2015, 2014, 2013, and 2012 challenges are a great resource too.

I am not limiting the challenge to bloggers. You can also link to a review you wrote on another site, such as GoodReads or LibraryThing.

Levels:
Beginner: Read 1-3 books in translation
Conversationalist: 4-6
Bilingual: 7-9
Linguist: 10-12

I’ll also have a separate post for review links. I’ll keep a permanent link to both posts in my sidebar.

I hope you’ll join me!  Sign up anytime throughout the year by linking below!

  1. A goal for this year is to read more books in translation; this is perfect motivation, thanks!

  2. This is going to be fun… I know at least one of them will be in Spanish, because I'm trying to learn that language, and I think this will help push me some.

  3. This is very exciting! I will be aiming to complete the bilingual challenge. 7-9 books seems easy enough but I'm not overly confident in my ability to read foreign languages quickly, and it's not enough of a challenge if it's in English 😉

  4. aww hehe 🙂 and by linguist I just mean that I studied linguistics at university, and I've always been passionate about it.
also, does it have to be something you've not read before or do rereads count? 🙂

  5. Does it count if you've started a book already? I currently have 13 translated books in 7 languages in progress 😉 And yes I'm actually a linguist 😀

I love to hear from you! Please contact me (menu bar, above) if you're having trouble commenting.
