It’s Banned Books Week, so I’m attempting to post daily reviews of banned or challenged books. I’ve checked out The Awakening by Kate Chopin to try to read and review this week, but I will probably run out of time. I will give it a good try.

Otherwise, it’s time for a new audiobook. Sad as I am to reach the end, I’m in the last part of The Lost Hero. I’m downloading Graveminder by Melissa Marr onto my iPods as we speak. It is October and I love to tackle horror/supernatural books during this month and this will be my first. Of course, I’m also going to Jamaica for a week starting October 13 and I don’t see myself reading dark books on the (hopefully) sun-drenched beach. We’ll see how that plays out.

What are you reading this week?

  1. I am reading The Awakening too! I am excited to read your review of Lonesome Dove – I love that series.

    The Winter Sea sounds beautiful.

    Have a great week!

  2. I recently sent back The Exile of Sara Stevenson to the library mostly unread. I just wasn't in the mood for it.

My favorite book this week was Dr. Seuss: The Cat Behind the Hat by Caroline W. Smith. Please come see what I'm reading now.

  3. I'm seeing a lot of Rick Riordan this week. 🙂 Looking forward to reading one of his myself.

  4. I don't read many books about pets, but I enjoyed The Art of Racing in the Rain too.
    Have a fantastic week!

  5. Looks like you've had a busy and great week! I'm off to read your reviews…

Have a great week of reading 🙂

  6. The Winter Sea is the one Kearsley that I do want to read! everyone has read it except me it seems.

  7. I am currently reading The Lost Hero too. I want to reread the first two books in the series before I read The Mark of Athena.

I still haven't written a review for The Winter Sea though I loved it. I should reread that one too.

I wanted to participate in Banned Books Week but I didn't think I'd be able to commit to it. I will try to write a general post about banned books that I've read instead. There are some strange books on the banned lists like Little Women. Who on earth would want to ban that?
