Weekly Update at Introverted Reader

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading? is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. She’s taking a bit of personal leave so I’m also linking to Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

This was a fairly quiet week. Yesterday morning, I volunteered for a local nonprofit that accepts book donations and in turn donates them to other nonprofits, like women’s shelters or schools, and gets them into the hands of people who don’t really have access to books. They do great work! In the afternoon, one of my good friends drove up to visit and we had a lot of fun goofing around. We even found a photo booth and had our pictures taken! I haven’t done that in years!

Review: The 100-Year-Old-Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson, translated by Rod Bradbury, read by Steven Crossley–4 Stars

Review: The Last Time I Saw Paris by Lynn Sheene–3.5 Stars

Read:

The Story of Land and Sea by Katy Simpson Smith

I listened to about 30 minutes of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee: An Indian History of the American West by Dee Brown and realized that I was never going to follow it in an audio format. I’ll try again later in print. There was nothing wrong with the reading or the book, there were just too many names, places, and events for me to keep it straight by just listening to it.

Currently Reading:

Undaunted Courage: Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, and the Opening of the American West by Stephen E. Ambrose–I’ve dragged this one out too long by just reading it before bed. This one will be my full-time print book until I finish it.

How to Tell Toledo from the Night Sky by Lydia Netzer, read by Joshilyn Jackson

Up Next:

I requested Summer Knight by Jim Butcher on audio from my digital library a few weeks ago. Of course it became available just a couple of days after I checked out another audio book. Here’s hoping I can finish them both in two weeks!

What are you reading this week?

I have an affiliate relationship with Malaprop’s, my local independent bookstore located in beautiful downtown Asheville, NC; and Better World Books. I will receive a small commission at no cost to you if you purchase books through links on my site. My opinions are completely my own.

  1. I love Jim Butcher though I've not read one of his books for ages.

    Have a great week!

  2. I am intrigued by How to Tell Toledo From the Night Sky! Toledo is about 45 minutes from me, and I love to read anything set locally. 🙂

  3. I have donated many books this past year, from my various purges throughout the house. I added more to the donations pile yesterday, clearing and emptying a shelf in the guest room (since my guests felt a little crowded…LOL).

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  4. What a wonderful non profit organisation that does that with the books, such a great idea. I know my Dad and one of my sisters has read the Dee Brown book, I don't read NF but they both liked it.

  5. I don't read much non-fiction so that's quite cool that you do. It's awesome that you volunteered! I always applaud that. My mom and I are actually volunteers at our library. It's great to help out. Have a great week.

  6. I hope you're enjoying Undaunted, I'm curious about that. I don't read much non fiction anymore, but that one might interest me.

    Happy reading this week!
