Welcome to my weekly update for August 27, 2012! It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

Posted:

Review: Daytripper by Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá–A graphic novel that rocked my world. Wow.

Review: The Society of S by Susan Hubbard–Eh.

Announcement: Neil Gaiman is coming to my town! See if he’s coming to yours too.

Read:

Boneshaker by Cherie Priest–Scratched my steampunk itch. Tons of fun!

The Prince of Frogtown by Rick Bragg, read by the author–Loved this audiobook.

Cold Pursuit by T. Jefferson Parker–It’s been ages since I read a crime novel. It felt good to be reading one.

Currently Reading:

Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry–I’ve literally read about two pages so far. I haven’t seen the movie either.

Drama: An Actor’s Eduction by John Lithgow, read by the author–Loving this audio!

From the Ashes by Jeremy Burns–I’m making slow progress because I only read it on the cardio machines at the gym. I’ve been running outside lately.

Up Next:

I have to return The Hemingses of Monticello by Annette Gordon-Reed to the library, but I was struggling with it anyway so I’m taking that as a sign to move on. I’ll be looking for another nonfiction book to replace it.

What are you reading this week?

  1. I read Lonesome Dove in the spring, and absolutely loved it! I hope you've past page two. It's wonderful!

  2. Either Boneshaker or Soulless would be a good place to start. I probably prefer Soulless just a little more but both are great!

  3. I just have a regular Facebook account to friend. I tried having a page and I just found it very clunky to use. Thanks for trying though!

  4. The John Lithgow books sounds great. He has such great experience on stage, on TV, and in movies.

  5. I love the Lonesome Dove series! I have read the books and watched all the movies. 😉 Lol. The Boneshaker sounds really good, I love steampunk!

  6. I've read and enjoyed some Larry McMurtry books, but haven't yet read (or watched) Lonesome Dove. I'll be checking for your review. Enjoy!

    Here's MY MONDAY MEMES POST

  7. Steampunk always seems like my kind of genre, but I haven't read much of it. Boneshaker sounds like a really good place to start.

  8. I've neither read nor seen Lonesome Dove. I wouldn't mind giving it a whirl!

I think John Lithgow is a hoot, I can see why the audio of his book would be great 🙂

Have a great week of reading!
(Following you on Twitter and liked you on Facebook!)

  9. I keep trying to read Boneshaker and it keeps getting recalled at the library. One of these days!

My favorite book this week was Ottoline at Sea by Chris Riddell. Please come see what I'm reading now.

  10. I tried to do the Lonesome Dove book – and I don't know but the movie is so ingrained in my head I just never got into it. Hope you enjoy it!
