Today is the kickoff of Book Blogger Appreciation Week! This year’s theme is A Treasure Chest of Infinite Blogs and Infinite Treasure. Today’s blogging prompt:

Monday—First Treasure
We invite you to share with us about a great new book blog you’ve discovered since BBAW last year! If you are new to BBAW or book blogging, share with us the very first book blog you discovered. Tell us why this blog rocks your socks off and why you keep going back for more.

This is an easy one.

It’s all Misty’s fault at Book Rat that I’m out here blogging for all the world to see.

We were friends first on GoodReads, and when she started posting links in her reviews to bonus material on her blog, I clicked through and was instantly hooked. I’ll tell you about my blogging experience tomorrow. Let me tell you about Misty.

She is freaking hilarious! I just love reading her reviews. She can easily make me laugh when she wants to, but she always has intelligent insights into what she’s reviewing. Humor and intelligence? What a winning combination!  If she doesn’t like a book, she says so very clearly, but she’s also very specific.  When she loves a book, I immediately add it to my to-read list.  She’s also very kind and supportive to new bloggers and I see her commenting all over the place, both in the blogosphere and on GoodReads.

Misty has great ideas for events and original content on her blog. I loved her Jane in June event, and I know many, many other Austenites did too. That was the first event I participated in. She did Helluva Halloween last year and is planning to do it again this year. She hosted Back to School Week recently, and shared her favorite books from her school days. Right now she is a very active participant in vvb32‘s September zombie infestation. See what I mean?  What’s not to love?

Just look at her profile information on blogger:

Fun-loving swf, likes long walks on the beach — no, wait, that’s not right. I am a quasi-college student with the intent of being a teacher one day, unless that career path gets any scarier, in which case I’ll probably go into publishing. Why? I read enough (and am a critical enough bitch) that I may as well get paid for it. I am full of contradictions, which I love, and I fully intend to be an eccentric old lady, with cats and sticky hard candy and pink hair. Also, I don’t take myself too seriously, which translates as ‘I am an utter dumbass,’ and that’s just the way I like it.

If you’re not already following her, go do so now.  I know you will love her.

Be sure to stop by the Book Blogger Appreciation Week site and see who other bloggers return to again and again!

  2. Aww I feel all smushy and gushy. You just made me day! And I LOVE that you started blogging, because you do a FANTASTIC job of it.

  3. Another "new to me" blog, as is yours! Thank you for spotlighting it, and for participating in BBAW!

  4. This sounds like the kind of blog I'd be very interested in reading! Humour in reviews is difficult to achieve and I like specificness. I'm adding your blog too, love the background image!

  5. That is a great choice and I love her blog as well.

Mine was J Kaye Book Blog. She was my first follower as well and I just loved her comments and reviews about everything. Unfortunely, she is no longer blogging and I miss her blog very much. She was just so supportive.

I love to hear from you! Please contact me (menu bar, above) if you're having trouble commenting.
